What To Know About Lip Blushing

Permanent makeup treatments, such as microblading, have become increasingly popular, and now there is lip blushing, a semipermanent tattooing method designed to enhance the natural colour and shape of your mouth for one to two years. Using a method called pixelating, the aesthetician deposits small, undetectable dots of pigment to line and shade.

The end result is a colour that looks as if it could be your natural shade but boosted and with a more pronounced shape. It’s now performed by aestheticians rather than tattoo artists, as it once was, and uses organic pigments and modern digital tools.

If your curiosity has been piqued, then make sure to do your research first.

It’s not that cheap, and like other minimally invasive cosmetic treatments, you get what you pay for. Be wary of deals that seem too good to be true, as any semipermanent treatment is not the time to take any risks.

Before your appointment, try on your favourite lipstick colours in different neutral shades of rose, coral, and brown tones to see what meshes best with your skin tone. Bring those with you to your appointment to show your aesthetician an accurate idea of what you want.

It is surprisingly not as painful as you would expect, as the anaesthesia used is very effective in your lips.

You will need plenty of lip balm in the days following, but your lips should be feeling fully moisturised again after a few days. There will be some time allowed for healing, but there would be little downtime for the treatment.

Don't expect dramatic results. If you’re looking for a permanent retro red shade or super sharp lines, this is not the treatment for you. The result is meant to be subtle - think along the lines of lash extensions or microfeathering.
