L’Oréal’s Releases Hyper-Real Digital Makeup

There seem to be fewer occasions during lockdown to warrant the time and effort needed to get dressed up and perfect that statement makeup look, all for the sake of a ten-minute video call with friends.

Thankfully, for those who don’t want to go through the rigmarole of perfecting their makeup, or a last-minute Zoom quiz means there isn’t time, L’Oréal has released Signature Faces, a range of 10 new filters that work with Snapchat, Instagram, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Hangouts, according to ZDNet.

The cosmetics company has collaborated with Virtue, VICE’s creative agency, L’Oréal Paris’ global makeup artist Val Garland, most recently seen on BBC makeup show Glow Up, and a team of talented 3D digital artists to create the 10 filters.

Some of the digital looks you can experiment with include Volumising Capsules (3D speckles of chrome, pearl and glitter, which embellish lids and lashes), Plump Shot (a wash of lustrous gloss on lids and lips) and our favourite, Fire Match (smoky sunset-inspired eyeshadow with matching matte lipstick and hazy blush to boot).

The flyers are designed to seamlessly work with all major video conferencing software and social media, which makes them ideal for socially distanced Zoom cocktail parties, live streaming, and posting stories to Instagram.

Signature Faces is free and super easy to use. On Instagram, you can find them via L'Oréal Paris' profile. Tap the screen and fit the filter to your face before snapping a picture or recording. On desktop platforms, you can find each filter on Snap Camera.

Download the filters to your laptop, and you can use them during video calls on Google Hangouts, Google Duo, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, and many others.
